ToggleThe Issue
The customer had experienced a noticeable decline in the heating performance of their underfloor system. Upon our initial discussion, it became clear that the system had not been serviced in a considerable time. As underfloor heating systems rely on the smooth operation of various components, a lack of maintenance can lead to inefficiencies or failures.
Our Process
Upon arriving at the site, our engineer liaised with the customer to understand the specifics of the issue and identify the location of the underfloor heating manifold.
- Isolated the Water Supply
Before beginning any maintenance work, we isolated the water supply to ensure a safe working environment and prevent any unnecessary leaks. - Located the Manifold and Inspected Components
The manifold is the heart of any wet underfloor heating system, distributing warm water evenly across the heating zones. We inspected the flow meters, pipes, and valves for any visible signs of wear or blockages. - Cleaned the Sight Glass on the Flow Meter
A dirty sight glass can obstruct the flow meter’s readings, making it challenging to assess the system’s performance. Cleaning the sight glass allowed us to ensure accurate flow regulation. - Refilled the System
After cleaning the necessary components, we refilled the system with water, taking care to remove any trapped air that could hinder efficiency. - Functionality Test
Once the system was refilled, we conducted a thorough test to confirm that all components were operating as expected. We checked for even heat distribution and proper flow rates across all zones.
